Deep Storm Water Tunnels – Main Tunnel

First of its kind in the Middle East, this is a prestigious and strategic project in Dubai estimated at that  AED 1.5 billion, with a construction period of around 1,200 days. The project objective is to have a long-term solution for collecting and conveying groundwater and storm water runoff from the Dubai World Central area (about 135 km2) and its adjacent communities (about 245 km2), which will be discharged into the Gulf. The project consists of a 10km tunnel of 11.05m boring diameter, at 30-45m below ground. The tunnel has 4 deep shafts, linking the connection-chambers with the tunnel and subsequently with the main collection drainage network.
